2017 Sierra Leone Mudslides
In August 2017, devastating mudslides struck the capital city of Freetown, Sierra Leone, claiming the lives of over 1,000 people and displacing more than 3,000. The disaster prompted a nationwide State of Emergency, leaving behind widespread destruction and hundreds of homes and buildings reduced to rubble.
Moved by compassion and a desire to help, New Life Fellowship of Churches sought ways to support the people of Sierra Leone in their recovery and restoration. By October 2017, our global outreach efforts were underway. We launched a supply drive, collecting and shipping over 1,000 pounds of essential goods to aid those affected in Freetown.
This was just the beginning of our commitment to bring hope, healing, and practical support to a nation in need.
